Future Clients:
My approach to therapy is to provide a comfortable, open, and trusting environment for those of all backgrounds and cultures. I chose to study in Salzburg, Austria, during my undergraduate to facilitate my desire to understand another person's perspective. I will never truly comprehend what someone has gone through, but through my training and questioning, I try my best to put myself in your shoes.
I specialize in treating those who have experienced any form of trauma, especially in childhood. I am an Approved EMDRIA Consultant and was originally trained in 2007. I treat those suffering from all diagnoses, including Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and Personality Disorders. I offer compassionate reflection toward your healing.
The best way to describe my approach is one of a surgeon. Talk therapy is an important starting point for your healing process. It can be enough for those who are experiencing transitions and in couple therapy. Surgery is needed when there are deeper injuries or for clients who are emotionally struggling in life. Think of an old wound that has never gotten taken care of, so it just festered. Band aides can slow the bleeding, but you will need to keep redressing the wound. Coping skills are like band aides used to put over the wound. My job is to search and find those wounds that you might have covered, buried, or forgotten about that still activate you. I then use my skills and training to help you heal the underlying, so you no longer need a band-aid.
Future Consultees:
I received my EMDRIA Consultant status in 2015, and I work with EMDR Consultees from around the world. I will see those seeking certification or Consultant status. I run small groups for an hour when there is enough need and the timing works for everyone. I often see consultees individually as well. I stick to the Standard Protocol of Francine Shapiro during case consultation and will weave in questions regarding it with cases to ensure a consultee's understanding of EMDR. I can provide resources for those who seek different protocols for clients with more severe trauma.
Trainings:
I offer several CEU and EMDRIA-approved trainings. I have a 2-day workshop called "The Basic Six Part System: A New Perspective in Working with Complex Trauma for Improved EMDR Processing." This workshop is designated only for EMDR-trained clinicians. My advanced workshop is one day for those who want a deeper dive, called "Strategies for Misfits: An Advanced Course Integrating the Basic Six Part System Model and EMDR." I will post on the upcoming page when I am offering one of these courses.
